Many utilities have been adding various types of pollution control equipment to their plant which creates new problems in the duct work leading to the chimney and also  the chimney liner. We have been asked about the ability to provide a large disc shaped balloon for use in isolating the main chimney. Since this size balloon could be as much as 50’ (15.24m) in diameter depending on where it is placed in the chimney, it would need to be properly supported. Below is an artist conception showing how scaffolding supports the balloon and blower from the floor of the chimney. Another way it could be supported is by using a movable platform.
